About this grant / loan

UK Government student loans at BPP University

You can take out a loan from the UK government to fund your studies at BPP University. You will only start repaying the loan after you graduate, once your income exceeds a certain threshold. There are two main types of loan available for undergraduate studies. A tuition fee loan loan covers up to around 7,600 euros per year (£6,355) if you are studying full-time, or up to around 5,700 euros per year (£4,765) if you are studying part-time. This amount goes directly to the BPP. A maintenance loan helps with living costs. It is paid out to you in three instalments per year following your enrolment. For a Master’s degree, you can receive a postgraduate loan for courses starting on or after 1 August 2026. In England, this amounts to up to approximately 15,200 (£13,206) euros. In Wales, it is a combination of a loan and a grant totalling up to around 23,500 (£19,635) euros. In Scotland, this consists of a tuition fee loan of up to approximately 8,400 (£7,000) euros and a living costs loan of up to approximately 8,300 (£6,900) euros.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at BPP University in the UK, either full-time or part-time.
  • Level: Student loans for Bachelor’s students are available for all Bachelor’s degree programmes at BPP. Student loans for Master’s students are only available for certain Master’s degree programmes, primarily in the fields of law, business administration, marketing, accountancy and healthcare.
  • Previous study: As a rule, funding is only available for your first higher education qualification. Limited exceptions may apply for certain degree programmes.
  • Nationality: Whether you are eligible depends on your nationality and your residence status. Students from the EU can apply for a loan to cover their tuition fees.
  • Age and residence: Whether you are eligible also depends on your age and where you live in the United Kingdom. England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland each have their own schemes.

How to apply

If you live in England, you can apply directly on gov.uk or by post. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own authorities. You will need to provide proof of identity and proof of household income. A confirmation letter will usually arrive within about eight weeks. The application deadlines are listed on gov.uk.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competitive scholarship, but a government loan. There is neither a fixed funding pool nor a ranking system in relation to other applicants. If you meet the standard eligibility criteria regarding nationality, educational level and academic record to date, you will usually be awarded the loan. Bear in mind, however, that this is money you will have to repay. The tuition fee loan is subject to a cap, so you will have to cover the difference between the cap and BPP’s fees yourself.
