About this award / prize

Prize "Roberto Rocca Education Program" at the University of Naples Federico II

You receive a one-off prize of 2,800 EUR as a Master's student in engineering at the University of Naples Federico II. Six prizes are awarded each round, split between first-year and second-year students. The money comes from Dalmine S.p.A. (part of the Tenaris/Techint industrial group) and is administered by the university, in memory of the industrialist Roberto Rocca.

Who can apply

  • University: You study at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II.
  • Degree level: You are enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of a Master's degree (laurea magistrale).
  • Field of study: You study one of these engineering fields: materials, chemical, automation, electrical, electronics, or mechanical (energy and environment, or design and production).
  • Study progress: If you are in your 2nd year, you have already passed at least three quarters of the credits (CFU) required for the 1st year.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You submit your application to the Faculty of Engineering's office by the deadline, which falls around mid-June. Selection has two stages. First, your academic record is scored. Then you attend a technical interview that checks your preparation and how well your study plan fits the listed engineering fields. Separate merit rankings are drawn up for first-year and second-year students.

How realistic are your chances?

This prize is narrowly targeted. You must study a specific set of engineering subjects at one faculty in Naples and already have strong exam results, so the eligible group is small. With six prizes per round split across two year groups, a well-matched applicant with a solid record and a fitting study plan has real prospects. The interview rewards candidates who can show how their studies align with the group's engineering work.
