About this scholarship

IED Master scholarship competition

You get your tuition fee cut by 50% for a Master of Arts or Master's Program at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design). For 2026/2027, IED and the Accademia di Como "Aldo Galli" are handing out 94 scholarships for courses in Italy. The subjects cover design, fashion, visual arts, communication and art, with programmes at the IED campuses in Milan, Florence, Rome, Turin and Como. On a two-year Master of Arts, the 50% cut carries into the second year if you pass all your first-year exams with an average of at least 28 out of 30. The award covers only the tuition. You pay the enrolment fee, housing and living costs yourself.

Who can apply

  • Degree: For a Master's Program you need a bachelor's degree, an equivalent qualification, or relevant work experience in the field. For a Master of Arts you need a bachelor's degree. You can also apply if you are about to graduate, as long as your certificate arrives in time.
  • Field of study: You apply for a postgraduate course in design, fashion, visual arts, communication or art.
  • Where you study: The course takes place at an IED campus or the Accademia di Como in Italy.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Language: You have at least B2 level in the language your course is taught in. You can prove this with a certificate such as IELTS or through an online interview.
  • One choice: You can apply for only one course at one location.

How to apply

Register on the IED scholarships page, pick your course and upload your documents. This includes a short creative project on set themes. If you meet the requirements, an advisor invites you to an online interview. Your interview and your project together decide the ranking. Check the official page for the 2026/2027 deadline and the full rules.

How realistic are your chances?

With 94 scholarships spread across several courses and campuses, there is real room. The field is international, and selection judges your creative project and interview, not just your paperwork. If your background clearly fits the course you pick and you put genuine effort into the project and interview, your prospects are solid. A strong, personal portfolio and essay matter more here than grades alone.
