Tilburg University - Research Master Scholarship for the Research Master in Communication, Cognition and Digital Culture

What you get

The scholarship cuts your tuition sharply. You pay only the statutory fee of 2,771 EUR for the 2027-2028 academic year instead of the full institutional fee of 20,500 EUR. It covers the entire two-year Research Master in Communication, Cognition and Digital Culture at the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences. The waiver continues into the second year as long as you keep up your study progress. It ends if you fall behind the standard two-year length. Tilburg University awards up to 3 waivers per year.

Who can apply

• Programme: You are admitted to the Research Master in Communication, Cognition and Digital Culture at Tilburg University.
• Who fits: You are a non-EEA student doing your first master's in the Netherlands, or a student of any nationality (including Dutch and EEA) who already holds a master's degree from the Netherlands.
• Start date: You begin in September. A February start does not qualify.
• Grades: You have a bachelor's or master's in a relevant subject with strong results: roughly an average of 7.5 out of 10 in your later exams and at least 8 out of 10 for your thesis, or the equivalent in your own grading system.
• English: You meet the programme's English requirement, for example IELTS Academic 7.0 (with 6.5 for Writing and Speaking).

How to apply

You apply for the master's programme itself through Studielink by 1 April, 23:59 CET. There is no separate scholarship form. Applying for the programme automatically enters you into the waiver selection. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an online interview in early June, and everyone hears the decision by the third week of June.

How realistic are your chances?

With only 3 waivers per year for one specific research master, this is a tightly cut award and the field is small. If your grades clearly clear the 7.5 and 8 marks and your motivation letter shows a genuine fit with the programme, your prospects are decent. Because selection uses an interview rather than a lottery, a strong, well-argued application makes a real difference.
