Strathclyde Excellence Scholarship

You get £1,000 per year (about 1,170 EUR) for every year of your degree at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Every eligible student receives it, so there is no separate pot to compete for. The money is yours to use for equipment, study materials, living costs or travel. It is paid on top of any student finance you already receive.

Who can apply

• Level: You are a new undergraduate (Bachelor) student starting at the University of Strathclyde this academic year.
• Study mode: You study full time.
• Grades: You achieved AAB or better at A Level. Without A Levels (for example with an Irish Leaving Certificate), you need at least 136 UCAS Tariff Points from equivalent qualifications.
• Where you are from: Your fee status is England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland or Wales.
• Tuition fee: You pay the £9,790 per year tuition fee.
• Subject: Open to most degree subjects, from engineering, science and computing to law, business, languages, social work and teaching.

How to apply

You do not apply separately. The university finds eligible students automatically through their application. If you qualify, you hear by the end of October, either through your Student Finance account or by email to your Strathclyde address, with the payment details.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a contest for a limited number of places. Every student who meets the criteria gets the £1,000. So your chances come down purely to whether you fit, and the main hurdle is grades (AAB or 136 Tariff Points). If you hold an offer at Strathclyde with those results and the right fee status, the award is effectively automatic.
