Alumni Scholarship

You get a 25% or 20% cut on your tuition fees for the first year of your next course at University College Birmingham (UCB). The size depends on your last results. If you finished your previous UCB course with a 1st class honours degree (or the equivalent grade on an International Foundation Diploma), you get 25%. Otherwise you get 20%. The cut applies to the first year only. UCB gives this to its own graduates who move straight into another course at the same university.

Who can apply

• You are a UCB graduate: You have completed a course at UCB, such as an International Foundation Diploma, an undergraduate programme or a postgraduate programme.
• You continue at UCB: You are starting a new course at UCB, for example moving from a foundation diploma to an undergraduate degree, or from an undergraduate degree to a postgraduate one.
• Nationality: You are an international student who pays overseas tuition fees.
• Grades set the rate: A 1st class honours (or equivalent) gives you 25%; a lower grade gives you 20%. Both groups qualify.
• Marketing: You agree to give a testimonial, appear in a case study or take part in UCB marketing if asked.

How to apply

There is no application to fill in. If you are a UCB graduate who meets the conditions, the discount is applied automatically when you enrol on your new course.

How realistic are your chances?

Good if you fit. This award is automatic, not competitive. Any international student who has finished a UCB course and enrols on another one at UCB gets the reduction without applying. Only the rate varies: your final grade decides whether you get 25% or 20%.
