About this scholarship

Craig Dobbin Legacy Scholarships

You receive 5,000 to 7,000 EUR for a short research visit of 2 to 4 weeks between Ireland and Canada. The grant covers your travel costs for the research stay. The scheme is run by the Ireland Canada University Foundation (ICUF) together with University College Dublin's (UCD) Centre for Canadian Studies. It awards 30 scholarships in total: 15 for UCD researchers going to Canada and 15 for Canadian researchers coming to UCD. At least 3 of these go to projects that link Memorial University Newfoundland and UCD.

Who can apply

  • Where you are based: You are a researcher at UCD who wants to do research in Canada, or a researcher in Canada who wants to do research at UCD.
  • Degree level: You hold at least a master's degree.
  • Field of study: All subjects are welcome, with a focus on the humanities and social sciences. Projects that combine several fields are also welcome. Your project should fit the research themes of the UCD College of Arts and Humanities.
  • Your plan: You want to do a 2 to 4 week research visit that builds ties between Ireland and Canada.

How to apply

You apply online through the ICUF portal and set out the details of your planned research visit. A panel of external reviewers from Ireland and Canada assesses the applications.
