About this grant / loan
Lacey French Travel Bursaries
You will receive 520 EUR (on average around 450 GBP) for a four- to five-week stay in France during the summer holidays. The money covers living costs, part of your utility bills and a portion of your travel expenses. It is intended to support cultural and educational trips to France, such as an internship, a study project, a conference or a voluntary placement. The scholarship is awarded by King’s College London and was established following a donation to the university in 1978. The exact amount depends on your application, as the available funds are divided amongst the successful applicants.
Who can apply
- University: You’re studying at King’s College London.
- Degree level: You may be a Bachelor’s or Master’s student.
- Field of study: All subjects and all schools are eligible to take part.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Your trip: You’re going to France for four to five weeks during the summer holidays.
How to apply
You apply online via the ‘King’s Student Records’ portal, where you select the type of funding you wish to apply for. The application deadline is 23 April. You can apply for several grants in a single application, although a separate application must be submitted for each individual trip. The Travel Grants Committee will then review and assess each application.
How realistic are your chances?
This funding is aimed exclusively at students at King’s College London, so the pool of applicants is significantly smaller than for open scholarships. The fixed total amount is divided amongst the successful applicants, so a clear travel plan with a sound budget is more important than requesting a large sum. If you are studying at King’s College London and can explain why your stay in France is worthwhile, your chances are good.
