About this scholarship

Benefit

You can earn 4.03 EUR per hour by spending a few hours helping out with community, social, cultural, technical or academic activities at your university, for example by assisting in a support service, a department or a cultural project. You choose the area yourself, and the timetable is arranged to fit in with your lectures, so that your studies do not suffer. The hourly rate is 0.75% of the Portuguese Social Support Index (IAS), and your total amount per academic year must not exceed 10 times the IAS. You can be paid monthly in cash, receive discounted student accommodation, have meal credits added to your canteen card, or choose a combination of these options. The fund is managed by the Social Services Department (SAS) of the Universidade de Leiria e Oeste (ULO), formerly the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, to help students in financial difficulty to continue and complete their studies.

Eligibility

  • Where you study: You are enrolled at the Universidade de Leiria e Oeste (formerly the Instituto Politécnico de Leiria) in Portugal.
  • Degree level: You are studying on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or TeSP programme (short-cycle programme for vocational higher education).
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, including both Portuguese and international students.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Financial need: Your household's financial situation is a main selection factor.
  • Availability: You can tailor your working hours to fit your timetable, and your skills match one of the roles on offer.

How to apply

Applications are made online via the SASocial-FASE platform using your student login. Applications can be submitted throughout the year; there is no fixed deadline. The social services department will draw up a ranking list of applicants and, where appropriate, invite you to an interview or request further documentation. The department responsible for the activity will then decide who is eligible to take part.
