About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off payment of 1,250 EUR per academic year if you are studying for a Bachelor’s degree (Licenciatura), an integrated Master’s degree, a Master’s degree or a degree in the arts at a public higher education institution in Portugal. If you are studying a higher vocational technical programme (curso técnico superior profissional), the amount is 1,000 EUR per year. The money is paid out as a one-off payment by January, either in cash at the town hall or by bank transfer. The grant is awarded by Seixal Municipal Council (Câmara Municipal do Seixal) and supports students from the Seixal region who are achieving good academic results but have limited financial means. You must reapply each year and provide evidence that you have successfully completed the previous academic year.

Who can apply

  • Where you live: You live within the municipal boundaries of Seixal (Concelho do Seixal).
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at a public higher education institution in Portugal.
  • Field of study: All disciplines, including art courses and higher vocational training programmes.
  • Degree level: You do not yet hold a university degree.
  • Age: At the time of applying, you must not be older than 25.
  • Financial need: Your household’s monthly per capita income does not exceed the national minimum wage.
  • Study progress: If you are already enrolled, you must have passed enough exams in the past year to re-enrol, and you must not have interrupted your studies – unless this was due to a serious illness.
  • No debts: You have no outstanding debts to the municipality of Seixal.

Places go first to applicants with the lowest household income per person, then to those with the better results last year. Applicants with a certified disability over 30% have absolute priority.

How to apply

You can submit your application online via the local authority’s ‘Serviços Online’ portal. For the year 2026/2027, you can submit your application from 14 October to 16 November 2026. Once the applications have been assessed, the local authority will publish a ranking list. You will then have 10 working days to lodge an appeal.
