About this scholarship

Bath International Excellence Scholarship

You get a tuition-fee discount of up to about EUR 9,300 (£8,000) per full-time year, for up to three years. That is up to roughly EUR 27,900 (£24,000) in total. The University of Bath in the UK gives out up to 300 of these awards to international undergraduates starting in September 2026. This reduces your tuition fees only; it is not a cash payment. If your course includes a placement or study-abroad year, you get no discount for that year. For BSc Architecture and BSc Business, which have half-year placements in years 2 and 3, the discount for those years is about EUR 4,650 (£4,000). You cannot combine this award with other Bath scholarships, and it stops if you ever become eligible for the lower UK ("Home") fees.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are a new first-year starting an undergraduate degree at Bath in September 2026 (this includes year 0 of the MPharm with preparatory year).
  • Fee status: You pay the higher international ("overseas") tuition fees and do not qualify for the lower UK ("Home") fees. UK asylum seekers and their children pay Home fees, so they cannot apply.
  • Enrolment: You study full time.
  • Offer: You already hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) for a Bath undergraduate degree.
  • Field of study: Open to all undergraduate courses at Bath except MArch Architecture. BSc Architecture is included.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply, as long as you pay overseas fees.
  • Merit: You have a strong academic record, since awards go to high-achieving students based on your written answers and grades.

How to apply

Once you hold an offer, apply through the form in your Bath Application Tracker, the university's online portal. You answer three short essay questions (each up to 750 characters): how the award would help you, why you are a strong candidate, and how you would contribute to the Bath community. There is no interview. Selection is based on your three answers and your grades. To receive the award, you must make Bath your "firm" choice through UCAS, the UK's central university application service.

How realistic are your chances?

With up to 300 awards, this is one of the larger scholarship pools you will find, and applying later does not hurt you as long as you meet the deadline. But it is merit-based and open to international undergraduates across most subjects, so the field is wide and the essays matter. If you have strong grades and can write convincing answers, your prospects are reasonable. Note that the 2026/27 round has already closed.
