Eveline Wunder Memorial Scholarship

You will receive a one-off payment of 5,000 EUR to fund a specific professional development course or specialisation. Soroptimist International Austria, a network of working women, awards this prize in memory of the lawyer Dr Eveline Wunder. The award is presented every two years. You can take it up in the academic year following the decision. The further training may also help you to return to work after a break.

Who can apply

• Who: For women only. You do not need to be a Soroptimist member.
• What you study: Advanced professional development or specialisation; not an initial degree or basic training. The subject areas include law, medicine, social work and education.
• Your goal: You want to use your training to support other women in your work. That’s what speaks most highly of you.
• Where: The training must take place at a state-recognised institution, preferably in Austria or a neighbouring country.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. The prize is open to entrants from across Europe.
• Financial need: Without the scholarship, you wouldn’t have been able to afford this training course.

How to apply

Please email the completed application forms to Soroptimist International Austria. The deadline for applications is 30 May of the year in which the prize is being awarded. The judging panel will reach its decision by the end of July. You may be invited to introduce yourself in person before the decision is made.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined. Only women who are currently undertaking further training, who wish to support other women in their work, and who are unable to cover the costs themselves are eligible. This keeps the pool of applicants small, meaning that a suitable applicant with a clear, needs-based application has a good chance of success. The grant is awarded only once every two years, so it is important to apply during the correct cycle.
