FISITA Travel Bursary

You will receive a one-off payment of up to 2,000 EUR for an internship, exchange programme or research placement in the automotive industry abroad. This is intended to help cover your travel and living expenses whilst you are abroad. The grant is provided by FISITA, the international federation of automotive engineering societies. It is funded by FISITA’s UK charity, which helps disadvantaged students to gain professional experience in the mobility sector.

Who can apply

• What you study: You are an engineering student on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at a recognised university or higher education institution.
• Placement arranged: You have already arranged an internship or a research placement with a motoring company or a research centre abroad.
• Membership: You are a member of a FISITA member organisation, such as the VDI, if you are studying in Germany.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are members of a FISITA member association.
• Where you go: The stay must take place abroad, not in your home country.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via FISITA. There are two application rounds each year, with deadlines on 31 March and 31 October.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship has strict eligibility criteria: you must be an engineering student, have already completed an internship abroad in the automotive sector, and be a member of a FISITA member association. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence that your work placement has been confirmed, your chances are good. The funding comes from donations, so the number of scholarships awarded depends on the funds available. It is advisable to apply early.
