Rolf L. Paulsson Memorial Fund travel scholarship

You get a travel grant to attend an international chemical engineering conference abroad, such as a congress, symposium or research meeting. The grant covers part of your travel costs, and you pay the rest yourself. The exact amount is not published. KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm manages the fund. It helps chemistry students gain international experience and make contacts with other engineers in their field.

Who can apply

• University: You study at KTH's CBH School (Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health).
• Study level: You are a chemistry student in the Master of Science in Engineering programme (civilingenjor), in any of years 1 to 5.
• Purpose of the trip: You travel to an international conference on fundamental research in chemical engineering.
• Your profile: You have good grades and a genuine interest in other countries and in building contacts with engineers in your field.
• Once only: You can normally receive this grant just once.

How to apply

You apply through a web form on the KTH student portal, using your KTH login. You attach a budget showing how you worked out your travel costs, for example screenshots of flight or hotel prices, or a conference invitation. The trip does not need to be booked yet. The application window and deadline for the current round appear on the KTH portal.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is cut very narrowly. You must be a chemistry student at KTH's CBH School and be travelling to a chemical-engineering conference, so only a small group can apply at all. If you fit those conditions and have a concrete conference in mind with a clear budget, your prospects are good. A well-documented trip plan matters more than a polished pitch here.
