About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive a one-off grant from Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) in England. The ‘Elite Sport Scholarship’ amounts to approximately 875 EUR (£750–£1,500). The ‘Performance Sport Scholarship’ amounts to approximately 585 EUR (£500). Each scholarship holder also receives benefits in kind: strength and conditioning training, sports science support, a free gym membership, sports therapy and rehabilitation, a mentor (an experienced adviser to guide you) and sports equipment provided as part of the scholarship. If you play cricket, the extended cricket scholarship includes up to four hours’ training per week at Kent County Cricket Club, technical cricket coaching from October to March, and a bespoke fitness programme.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying at Canterbury Christ Church University or are about to start your studies there.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Sporting level (Performance): You have taken part in competitions at district or regional level and achieved success.
  • Sporting level (Elite): You take part in competitions at national level or higher and achieve success there.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via an online form, to which you must attach two references. There are three application deadlines each year. These are on 26 March, 12 June and 1 September.

How realistic are your chances?

As this award is linked to a specific university and to proven sporting achievements at district, state or national level, the pool of eligible applicants is quite small. If you are already competing at this level and enrol at the CCCU, your chances are good. Make sure you get your two letters of recommendation well in advance and apply as soon as possible, rather than waiting.
