UAL Home Postgraduate £7,000 Scholarship

You get a £7,000 fee waiver (about 8,100 EUR) towards a taught master's course at the University of the Arts London (UAL). You do not receive cash. The money goes straight onto your tuition fee account in your first year. If £7,000 is more than one year's fee (for a part-time or longer full-time course), the rest carries over to your second year. UAL offers 200 of these scholarships for 2026/27. You can hold only one UAL scholarship at a time.

Who can apply

There are two routes, and you can apply for both at once if you qualify. These conditions apply to both:

• Fee status: You have Home tuition fee status. This covers UK students, plus EU and other non-UK nationals who qualify for Home fees.
• Course: You hold an offer for a full-time or part-time taught master's at a UAL college or institute (Grad Dip, MArch, MA, MBA, MFA, MRes or MSc). UAL Online courses do not count.
• No existing master's: You do not already hold a UK taught master's degree, or an equivalent from anywhere in the world.

On top of that, you meet the extra condition for at least one route:

• Route 1 (financial need): You receive a means-tested benefit such as Universal Credit, OR you previously got hardship-based student funding from UAL or another university, OR you were in care for more than 13 weeks spanning your 16th birthday. Everyone who meets these criteria gets the scholarship, with no competitive selection.
• Route 2 (merit): You have achieved, or are predicted, an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or higher, shown by your transcript. You also write a personal statement answering three questions (max 350 words each) about your achievements, your future plans and what you would bring to UAL. A UAL panel decides who wins.

How to apply

You first need a course offer. Then you apply through UAL's applicant portal, which opens in December 2025. For an autumn 2026 start the deadline is Friday 26 June 2026 (23:59 UK time), with decisions on 7 August 2026. For a January 2027 start the deadline is Friday 30 October 2026, with decisions on 3 December 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

Route 1 is the surer bet: if you meet the financial-need criteria, you get the scholarship automatically, with no panel to impress. Route 2 is competitive, judged on your 2:1 and your personal statement. With 200 awards available, prospects are good if you qualify for Route 1. Apply for both routes when you can, and get your course offer in early so you make the deadline.
