Access to Exeter Bursary (ATE)

You will receive an annual cash payment of up to about EUR 2,750 (£2,370) if your family income is low. This will be paid out every year for the entire duration of your bachelor’s degree. The exact amount depends on your household income and is divided into bands: approximately 2,750 (£2,370) euros if it is up to £16,000,, approximately 1,600 (£1,380) euros up to £25,000,, and approximately 1,020 (£880) up to £30,000,, and around 600 (£520) euros up to £35,000.. Part-time students studying Biomedical Sciences receive half of these amounts. The University of Exeter pays this grant to help students from low-income households. It is not a competitive scheme: if you meet the income threshold, you will receive it.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled as a Bachelor’s student at the University of Exeter.
• Fee status: You are considered a British ‘Home’ student and not an international student.
• Study mode: Full-time study on any degree programme. Part-time study will only be considered if you are studying Biomedical Sciences.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Household income: Your household income is £35,000 or less per year. The lower it is, the more you will receive.
• Data consent: You (and your parents or sponsors) agree that the university may access your income details from the UK student finance agency.

How to apply

There is no separate application form. Each year, you apply for funding from UK Student Finance, providing details of your household income. The university then automatically checks your income and pays the funding in three instalments spread throughout the year, directly into the bank account you have registered with them.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is not a competitive award. If you are a UK undergraduate student at the University of Exeter and your household income is £35,000 or below, you will receive it. The only thing that might stand in your way are administrative hurdles. Apply for student finance every year and agree to your income details being shared. If you meet the income threshold and complete these steps, the money is yours.
