IMechE Eaton Undergraduate Scholarship

You will receive £2,000 per year (about 2,300 EUR) for up to four years, amounting to a total of up to £8,000 (approximately 9,200 EUR) over the course of your studies. The grant is paid annually, provided you make satisfactory progress in your studies. Payments will be suspended during a placement year (a year spent working in a company as part of your degree). The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) awards the scholarship in partnership with Eaton. Eaton may also offer you a placement during your studies.

Who can apply

• Study level: You will be starting your first engineering degree in the autumn. You are not yet enrolled.
• Field of study: Your degree is recognised by the IMechE, for example in mechanical engineering.
• University: You are studying at a British university which offers a degree programme accredited by the IMechE.
• Residence: You are based in the UK.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they meet the UK’s residency requirements.

How to apply

Please send your completed application form to the IMechE by 30 June 2026. Your referee must submit the reference form by 15 July. Please pay particular attention when answering question 9, as this plays a major role in the decision-making process. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by mid-August and will be required to attend an interview. Alternative dates for the interview are generally not possible. The final decision will be made by the IMechE committee in conjunction with a representative from Eaton.
