University of Macerata (Macerata/Italy) - Fees exemption for disabled Students

What you get

At the University of Macerata in Italy, you pay no tuition fees if you have a recognised disability. The full exemption covers your main study costs: the annual enrolment fee, the additional fee for e-learning services and the regional tax for the right to study. You will still have to pay certain smaller amounts yourself, such as stamp duty and any late payment charges. The exemption can be granted for up to 72 months. The University of Macerata grants it in accordance with the Italian Disability Act (Law 104/1992).

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD programme at the University of Macerata.
• Disability: You have a documented disability of at least 66 per cent or a recognised impairment in accordance with Article 3(1) of Italian Law 104/1992.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• Income: No income limit applies.

How to apply

You must apply for the exemption yourself; it is not granted automatically. Log in to studenti.unimc.it and, when enrolling, pre-enrolling or renewing your enrolment annually, select the exemption on the grounds of a disability. Then upload your disability certificate. Submit your application within the enrolment deadlines. The first instalment of the tuition fees is usually due by 31 October.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a selection process with a limited number of places. If you are studying at the University of Macerata and can provide evidence of a disability of 66 per cent or more, you will be granted exemption.
