The Kingston Bursary (Year 1 only)

During your first year at Kingston University in London, you will receive a one-off grant of 2,300 EUR (£2,000). The amount will be paid into your UK bank account in three instalments over the course of the year, once you have enrolled and are attending classes. Kingston University administers the scholarship to help students from low-income households get started with their studies. At least 500 scholarships are awarded each year.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You have accepted a firm offer to study a Bachelor’s degree programme at Kingston University.
• Study year: You will start the 1 academic year in September 2026. A foundation year (year 0) or a short preparatory course will not be taken into account.
• Fee status: You pay the tuition fees for home students, which amount to £9,790.. This means that you are considered a UK resident student rather than an international student.
• Household income: Your household has an annual income of £25,000 or less, as confirmed by the UK Student Finance Agency.
• Course type: Most degree subjects are eligible. Students studying nursing and midwifery cannot apply, as they receive separate funding from the NHS.

How to apply

There is no separate form. First, accept your place at Kingston University. Then, by 30 June 2026, apply for student finance in the UK, list Kingston University as your first choice and agree to your details being passed on to the university. You must allow the student finance office to carry out a full means test based on all your supporting documents, and then enrol in September 2026. The university will contact all scholarship recipients in October 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

The scholarship is aimed at first-year students at Kingston University from households with an income of £25,000 or less, so the number of eligible students is small. With at least 500 scholarships to be awarded, your chances are good if you meet the criteria. However, meeting the criteria is no guarantee of success, as the number of scholarships is limited. Please ensure your means test is completed in full and in good time, as failure to have your means test verified will result in exclusion.
