Benefit

You will receive your full tuition fees covered for the entire duration of your studies at a New Zealand university. The amount will be paid out in New Zealand dollars (NZD) within four weeks of the start of the semester. Both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (Master’s degrees or exchange semesters) are eligible. The scholarship is provided by a funding partner of the Institut Ranke-Heinemann (IRH), an agency that arranges study places in New Zealand for students from German-speaking countries.

Eligibility

• Where you study: You study at a New Zealand university, and the IRH arranges your place.
• IRH support: You take part in the IRH support programme before applying for a place at university, and the IRH guides you through the process.
• Residence: You live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.
• Age: You are 29 or younger.
• Grades: You have good school grades (for a Bachelor’s degree programme) or a good academic record (for a Master’s degree programme or an exchange semester).
• Study place confirmed: You can show a Fees Receipt from a New Zealand university that proves your place is accepted.
• No double funding: You will not receive any other scholarships or grants for the same stay.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by email to the Ranke-Heinemann Institute. Please submit all documents in one go, including proof of your place at university. The application deadline is 31 January for the first semester and 30 June for the second. For trimester-long stays, please apply one month before the start of the trimester. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit: your grades and your letter of motivation are decisive. Only successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of the deadline.
