About this scholarship

What the City Undergraduate Accommodation Bursary gives you

You will receive a one-off payment of approximately 210 EUR (£210) to help with your living and accommodation costs whilst you are studying. You do not need to repay this amount. The grant is provided by City, St George’s, University of London, for students from low-income households. It supplements your student finance and helps to cover rent, travel costs or study-related expenses, such as the cost of a laptop.

Who can apply

  • Level: You are studying for a bachelor’s degree (BA, BSc, BEng or MEng) at City, St George’s, University of London.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Where you live: You usually live in England.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they meet the requirements regarding residence and funding for their studies.
  • Financial need: Student Finance England assesses your household income and classifies it as low. You apply to this organisation for a means test (an income assessment) and authorise it to pass on the result to the university.

How realistic are your chances?

This scholarship is restricted to low-income students at a university in England, so the target group is quite small and the amount awarded is modest. If you clearly meet the residency and income criteria and pass the means test carried out by Student Finance England, your chances are quite good. Apply early at the start of the academic year, as funds are limited.
