Halmstad University Tuition Fee Scholarships

You get 25% or 50% of your tuition fee waived for one semester. The exact rate and the number of scholarships depend on how much money is in the fund each round. The reduction comes straight off your tuition invoice, so you simply pay less. This is not ongoing support: it covers a single semester (spring or autumn), and you can be considered again in a later round. Halmstad University in Sweden funds it for its own top-performing master's students.

Who can apply

• Programme: You are enrolled in a two-year master's programme at Halmstad University.
• You pay tuition: You pay the full tuition fee. This means you are not a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, because those students study free and cannot get this waiver.
• No double funding: You do not already hold another Halmstad University scholarship or a Swedish Institute (SI) scholarship.
• Grades: You have strong exam results in Ladok, the Swedish student records system. Only results from regular exams count, not resits or resubmissions.
• Semester: For the spring round you must be in your second or fourth semester. For the autumn round you must be in your third semester.
• What does not count: Financial need, earlier studies elsewhere and work experience play no role. This is purely about your grades at Halmstad.

How to apply

You cannot apply on your own. If you are eligible, the University emails a link to the online form to the address you registered in Ladok. You then enter your application number from University Admissions. The spring round runs 5-12 November, with results by early December. The autumn round runs 18-25 March, with results by late April. Winners get a nomination letter and a reduced invoice, and must accept or decline by the stated deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

The pool is naturally small: only fee-paying master's students at this one university qualify, and selection rests only on your grades. There is no fixed number of awards, as it depends on the fund, so the competition varies each semester. If your exam results are clearly among the strongest in your programme, your prospects are good, since need and background are ignored entirely.
