About this scholarship
Benefit: what you get
The Fondation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris (FSMP) runs several parallel funding tracks in mathematics and theoretical computer science, all based at partner institutions in the Paris Île-de-France region.
- PGSM Master scholarship: EUR 1,150/month for 11 or 12 months, covering one or two years of a master's degree. International students also get a room in a Paris student residence, one return economy flight per year, health insurance, tuition fees, a personal academic tutor, and enrolment and visa support.
- Postdoctoral positions: roughly EUR 2,650/month net for two years, with health and social insurance. About 10 positions start each October.
- Chairs of Excellence (senior visiting researchers): EUR 4,700-6,200/month net for 6 to 12 months, plus a return economy flight. Chair holders teach at least 20 hours of doctoral courses in Paris.
- Research stays for doctoral students: travel and accommodation costs reimbursed for stays of 1 to 3 months at a lab outside your home institution.
- PhD contracts and other schemes: co-funded doctoral contracts (including Math&AI in Paris and the Qube Thesis prize), a master's internship grant, a summer school in Turkey, and prizes.

- PGSM Master - level: You are applying for, or already enrolled in, a master's programme (M1 or M2) in mathematics or theoretical computer science.
- Postdoc - level: You hold a doctorate in mathematics or theoretical computer science. Graduates of FSMP-affiliated doctoral schools are not eligible for this track.
- Chairs of Excellence - level: You are a mathematician or computer scientist at any career stage, based outside FSMP-affiliated laboratories.

How to apply
The next call for the PGSM Master, Postdoctoral Programme and Chairs of Excellence is expected to open in autumn 2026. PGSM Master applications go through the FSMP online portal. Research stay applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year (except August) and take roughly one month to process.
