Fundacion Universia scholarship for students with a disability

You get a one-off 1,000 EUR grant for the 2026-2027 academic year. Fundacion Universia, linked to Banco Santander, awards 300 of these grants. You can spend the money on what you need to keep studying: assistive technology or support tools, extra training, travel and accommodation, or your academic project. It works alongside other public or private grants, and you can apply again in later rounds if you still qualify.

Who can apply

• Disability: You have an official certificate confirming a disability of 33% or more, issued by the Imserso or the equivalent body in your region of Spain.
• Where you live: You are Spanish, or a foreign national living in Spain.
• Age: You are at least 16 on the day you apply.
• Level: You are enrolled for 2026-2027 in a bachelor's degree, master's, doctorate, a university-specific title, or vocational training (Formacion Profesional, intermediate or higher level).
• Where you study: Any public or private institution, academy or training centre, in Spain or abroad.
• Field of study: Any subject.
• Platform: You are registered on the Santander Open Academy platform, the website where you apply.

How to apply

You apply online through the Santander Open Academy platform between 6 July and 28 September 2026 (23:59 Madrid time). Selection runs in two rounds based on your documents. First you submit your disability certificate, then a personal project, proof of enrolment and your CV. Results are announced on 14 December 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

There are 300 grants, and only students with a certified disability of 33% or more living in Spain can apply. So the pool is more focused than for fully open scholarships. If you clearly meet those conditions and put together a solid personal project, your prospects are reasonable. Applying early with complete documents helps.
