About this scholarship

Türkiye Scholarships Graduate Program

You get a monthly stipend (a fixed living allowance) of about 145 EUR for a Master's (6,500 TL) or about 200 EUR for a PhD (9,000 TL). On top of that, this full scholarship from the Turkish government covers the real cost of studying abroad. It includes no tuition fees, a place at a Turkish university arranged for you, accommodation (a dorm place or a housing allowance), health insurance, and one return flight (at the start and again when you graduate). If you are not a native speaker, you also get a free one-year Turkish language course. A Master's usually runs 2 to 3 years and a PhD 3 to 4 years.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You want to study a Master's or a PhD in Turkey.
  • Field of study: Social sciences, humanities, natural sciences or engineering. Health sciences (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy) are not covered.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply, except Turkish citizens and anyone who gave up Turkish citizenship. You also cannot already be enrolled in Turkey at the level you are applying for.
  • Grades: You have at least 75% in your completed degree. That means your Bachelor's for a Master's application, or your Master's for a PhD application.
  • Age: Under 30 for a Master's, under 35 for a PhD.
  • Timing: Your previous degree is finished, or will be finished before August of the application year.

How to apply

You apply free online through the Türkiye Scholarships application system (TBBS) between 10 January and 20 February each year. Applications that pass the basic checks are scored by an expert committee. Shortlisted candidates are then interviewed in their own country between June and July. Results are announced in early August.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a well-known government scholarship that draws applicants from over 100 countries, so the competition is real and only a fraction reach the interview stage. Strong grades get you past the first filter, but the committee also weighs your motivation letter, career goals and social engagement, so a clear, focused application stands out. If you comfortably clear the 75% grade bar and the age limit and can show a genuine reason for choosing your field and Turkey, your prospects are solid.
