What the University West scholarship gives you

At University West in Trollhättan, Sweden, you will receive a discount on your tuition fees. In the 2024/25 academic year, the scholarship covered 25% of the tuition fees. The exact amount for the start of your studies in autumn 2026 will not be confirmed until October. Tuition fees for Master’s programmes in Sweden range from around 80,000 to 200,000 SEK per year, so the grant will enable you to save a significant portion of these costs. University West awards a limited number of these scholarships each year based on academic performance.

Who can apply

• Fee-paying student: You are a national of a country outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, so you must pay tuition fees. Students from the EU, the EEA and Switzerland study free of charge and do not require this scholarship.
• Degree level: You have been admitted to a Master’s programme at University West.
• On campus: Your degree programme is taught on campus. Distance-learning programmes are not permitted.
• Field of study: Any topic is suitable.
• Motivation letter: Along with your application, you must submit a cover letter explaining why you are applying for this place.
• Selection: The faculties assess applicants on the basis of their grades, their personal statement, the priority they have assigned to the degree programme, and any relevant projects, work placements, international experience or professional experience.

How to apply

First, apply for admission to the Master’s programme via universityadmissions.se by 1 February and include your personal statement. Then complete the separate online scholarship application form and upload your CV. The application period for the scholarship runs from 1 November to 1 February. The final decision is made by a scholarship committee; appeals are not permitted.

How realistic are your chances?

Only a limited number of these scholarships are awarded each year, and they are awarded solely on the basis of academic results, so competition amongst qualified applicants is fierce. With good grades, a compelling personal statement and relevant practical experience, you stand a real chance.
