What you get

You will receive a scholarship to fund your studies following your A-levels (Gymnasium). The foundation does not specify either a fixed amount or a duration of funding. It decides on each scholarship on a case-by-case basis. The Gothenburg-based foundation, which was established in 1947, uses the income from its endowment to support education, research and people in need.

Who can apply

• Level of study: You are undertaking a vocational training programme after completing your A-levels (post-secondary education).
• Where you study: You are studying in Sweden. The foundation rarely funds study abroad programmes, such as an academic year in the USA.
• Where you are from: You’re from Gothenburg or the surrounding area.
• Field of study: Anyone interested is very welcome.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Changing course: As a rule, you will not receive any additional funding if your studies are extended because you have changed degree programmes and your Swedish state student grant (CSN) is due to expire.

How to apply

You apply online via the SEB Foundation’s portal. You will need a Swedish BankID or a manually created account. There are two application deadlines each year: from 1 March to 20 April, and from 15 September to 1 November. The Board makes its decision in May and November. It only contacts successful applicants, so you will not receive a rejection letter.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is restricted to students from the Gothenburg area who are studying after completing upper secondary school; consequently, fewer people are eligible for it than for open, nationwide scholarships. If you can prove that you live in this region, are from there and are studying at university, your chances are quite good. As no rejection letters are sent out, you should plan to reapply during a later application round if you do not receive a response.
