ADA - ADA Scholarships for Masters

What you get

You will receive a scholarship of 100% tuition waiver for a Master’s degree at ADA University in Baku, Azerbaijan, which represents a saving of approximately 4,767 EUR on tuition fees. The exemption applies for the standard duration of your Master’s programme, i.e. 2 years (4 semesters). The focus of this scholarship is the Graduate Assistantship Programme: In addition to having your tuition fees waived, you will work for around 20 hours per week with a member of the academic staff on their research project. International (non-Azerbaijani) students may instead qualify for the ‘Alimardan Bay Topchubashov Fellowship’. In addition to full exemption from tuition fees, this includes free accommodation in student halls of residence and annual health insurance. Summer semesters are not covered, and you will still be required to pay the separate tuition fees yourself.

Who can apply

• Degree level: You are applying for a Master’s degree programme at ADA University.
• Subject: The research assistant programme covers degree programmes in the fields of public and international affairs, law and education, such as diplomacy and international affairs, educational management, teaching and learning, or the Master of Laws (LL.M.). Distance-learning programmes (‘qiyabi’) are excluded from this.
• Nationality: The postgraduate assistantship is open to applicants of any nationality. The Topchubashov Scholarship is intended exclusively for non-Azerbaijani nationals.
• Timing: You must apply for the research assistant post during the first round of applications.
• Grades: You are among the strongest candidates. The awards will go to the best candidates, based on the results of the interviews and tests.
• English: You can demonstrate your English language skills, for example, with IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 83 or Duolingo 120.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the admissions portal for Master’s programmes. The application deadline for the first round is 8 April; the second round, which has a limited number of places, closes on 1 June. No separate application for a scholarship is required, as decisions on the award of the graduate assistantship are made as part of the admissions process. All shortlisted applicants must attend an interview before a final decision is made.

How realistic are your chances?

Full exemption applies only to the top candidates selected during the admissions process. To be eligible for the postgraduate scholarship, you must apply in the first round for one of a limited number of degree programmes, meaning the pool of applicants is smaller than for an open scholarship. If you can demonstrate outstanding academic results, apply early and target one of the funded degree programmes, your chances are good. For international students, there is a second route via the Topchubashov Scholarship, which broadens the opportunities for applicants from countries other than Azerbaijan.
