Scholarships from Jönköping University

At Jönköping University in Sweden, you will receive a reduction of 10% to 30% of your tuition fee. This is valid for the entire duration of your studies, up to a maximum of 3 years. The exact percentage depends on your grades, and the discount is deducted from your tuition fee invoice each semester. Jönköping University awards these scholarships on behalf of the Swedish Government to international students who pay tuition fees. The scholarship cannot be renewed. Nor can you combine it with funding available under Jönköping University’s partnership agreements with FIDERH, FUNED (Mexico) or COLFUTURO (Colombia).

Who can apply

• Nationality: You are a national of a country outside the EU/EEA, which means that you are required to pay tuition fees in Sweden. You do not need to be living in your home country at the time of application.
• Fees: You will be required to pay tuition fees for your studies at Jönköping University.
• Degree level: You have applied for a full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme at Jönköping University. You can apply for the scholarship even before you receive your offer of admission, but you will need this offer to be shortlisted.
• Field of study: All participants are eligible to take part.
• Grades: Selection is based on your grades; good grades therefore give you the best chance of success.
• Study effort: You are a full-time student (30 credit points per semester) and earn enough credit points each year to retain the scholarship.

How to apply

Applications are made online via the JU scholarship portal. You must submit your application number for the degree programme, a letter of recommendation and a short personal statement of no more than 200 words. For degree programmes starting in autumn 2027, the application window runs from 16 October 2026 to 2 May 2027. The results will be announced approximately 3 weeks after the application deadline.

How realistic are your chances?

Only a limited number of these scholarships are awarded, and they go to applicants with the highest grades – so competition is fierce. The pool of applicants is small, as only fee-paying students from non-EU/non-EEA countries who have been admitted to the JU are eligible to apply. A well-written personal statement and a compelling letter of recommendation make all the difference. If your grades are outstanding and you apply within the application period, your chances are good.
